Reusable Cotton Face Masks and Monetary Donations

Masks will go on sale FRIDAY, March 27th AT 3PM CT.  Due to the overwhelming demand, I've limited to one mask per medical worker and they could still sell out quickly.

Limit of 1 mask per person/household.  Available for Health Care Professionals only at this time.

Reusable Cotton Face Mask- $4.95 each (cost of labor/operating costs only, no profit) plus shipping.  We will be shipping in envelopes to save you and us on shipping costs.  Flat rate shipping will be lowered to $2.25 for this sale. We plan to ship all orders, including local customers as we are closed to local pick-up at this time.  (Note: $4.95 shipping did not get changed to $2.25 for some customers ordering first ... you will be refunded difference :) My mistake (RagaDave).

If you are using the 'donation only' pull down choice, you can enter coupon code 'MASK' to remove shipping costs from donations if you wish.

We have made the decision to temporarily shift to making reusable medical masks due to the vast demand during the covid-19 pandemic.  By Monday of next week (3/30/20), we will have donated 600 masks to our local health care workers (hospital/care facilities/clinics/hospice).

We are offering 500 masks for sale at our cost (NO PROFIT) to HEALTH CARE WORKERS ONLY.  We are not offering these to the general public at this time.

In order to keep doing what we are doing, we need to keep some money coming in so we can continue to pay our employees to make more masks to donate! Again, we are not making a profit on the masks for sale and are selling them at labor cost only. (Custom diapers that are currently on order are being embroidered, so we are moving ahead on those).

Our pattern uses 2 layers of 100% cotton that creates a pouch for a filter to be slipped into for optimal protection and an inserted covered wire for a molded fit around the nose.  If you don't have a mask filter provided by your hospital, you can use any type of 'non-woven' material.  Stabilizer, Pellon, quilting interfacing, or even cut up a furnace filter (non-fiberglass!) into approx. 4"x 5" squares.

EFFECTIVENESS: According to researchers at Cambridge, 2 layers of 100% cotton (with no filter added) catches 71% of regular bacteria and 51% of corona virus size bacteria. Surgical masks under the same test caught 97% of regular bacteria and 89% corona virus.

With a filter added to a homemade mask, you can bring the effectiveness up to nearly equal that of a surgical mask. These can also be worn over the top of a disposable mask to preserve the longevity or used in areas where chances of contact with the virus are low to preserve n95 masks for the ‘front lines’.

*Our masks are not tested or certified in any way, but are designed to meet many acceptable medical standards for a cloth mask w/filter. They do not guarantee protection, but studies show that cotton masks do help prevent fluid transmission and can greatly reduce the spread of the virus.
